Learning Assessments
Sometimes it's obvious that a child is struggling at school, but much less obvious why.
They may be falling behind with reading or spelling, finding writing difficult, struggling to remember information or simply not making the progress you would expect.
A full diagnostic dyslexia assessment isn't always the first or most appropriate step.
Our Learning Assessments help build a clearer picture of where a child is experiencing difficulty and what parents and schools can do to support them.
What does a Learning Assessment cover?
A Learning Assessment can explore:
- reading
- comprehension
- spelling
- writing
- phonological awareness
- phonological processing
- memory
- language skills.
You'll receive baseline scores alongside a report containing detailed recommendations for parents and school.
The assessment can help establish areas of difficulty and identify suitable first interventions or programmes.
It may also identify indicators suggesting that further investigation of another learning or neurodevelopmental difference could be appropriate.
Is a Learning Assessment a dyslexia diagnosis?
No. This is an important distinction. A Learning Assessment doesn't provide a formal diagnosis of dyslexia.
It can identify significant traits that may be consistent with dyslexia, but it doesn't include all the elements covered within a full diagnostic assessment.
If the results suggest that a diagnostic dyslexia assessment would be appropriate, we can discuss the next step with you.
Learning Assessment
£250
Available for children aged approximately 6½ to 11.
The assessment provides baseline information and detailed recommendations that can help parents and schools understand where support should be focused.
Learning & Behaviour Assessment
£300
This includes the Learning Assessment alongside observation of the child within their classroom.
The resulting report can therefore also make recommendations around learning behaviours and strategies that may help the child have a more positive experience at school.
Where appropriate, it may also indicate that referral to a neurodevelopmental service should be considered.
